Finally there is some good news for the passengers who frequently visit Bangkok. Thai cabinet finally took the decision over the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok's only international airport. The recent decision of the cabinet will lift the crowding capacity of Suvarnabhumi Airport to 60 million passengers per year.
The development work at the airport will cost around 62 billion baht to Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT). According to the sources, the renovation work is expected to start in 2012 and set to be completed in 2015. AoT said that the expansion work involves building a new midfield terminal and a third runway.
AoT is also reportedly trying to slow down the increasing congestion of Suvarnabhumi Airport.
